An umbrella body of 14 associations of Punjab and Chandigarh, Punjab Association of Computer Traders (PACT) formed a three member KYC committee to tackle the inter city issues increasing day by day. In an exclusive chat with Gurpreet Singh Jagdev, Media Advisor, PACT, tells Bhawna Satsangi that infiltration of material to Punjab from Jammu is the cause of concern for the market.
PACT an umbrella body of 14 Associations of Punjab & Chandigarh, where Presidents of City are members is formed to address issues of dealer members that include National Distributors and Vendors, for smooth and ethical conduct of business operations in the region. The association is covering 13 districts/ towns of Punjab and Chandigarh. The present focus of the association is to combat the problems prevailing in the region.
One of the major issues that the organization is working on is the Microsoft piracy Issue. PACT had signed an MOU with Microsoft to safeguard its members from any legal action and at the same time pursued members through local association to stop piracy and buy legal campaign. Ever since recent warnings, PACT has taken a strong stand that they will not standby any partner indulging in such activities.
The association has also formed a three member KYC committee where all the distributors and national distributors (who bill direct to the partners) were required to submit this form to get themselves registered with PACT. This way they will get the support in the inter city issues that are on an increase due to recent slowdown.
Elaborating on the Jammu Billing & MOP issues Gurpreet Singh Jagdev, Media Advisor, PACT informs, “We plan to report to ADC of respective districts and approach Govt. to aware them of loss of tax revenue to state due to material infiltration from Jammu. At the same time, we will escalate with Vendors and NDs and will take strict action those who continue to allow Punjab business to be disturbed through Jammu unethical infiltration.”
To combat the issues of the region PACT is taking several measures to put a curb on Fly by night operatives and are able to keep transparency on warranty policies and escalation matrix to help smooth functioning of business in the state.
To help combat the Microsoft piracy issue, in unanimous resolution PACT will not support anybody indulging in such practices. PACT will put up an anti-piracy logo on its website and have also asked the other associations to communicate the message to its members.
Talking about the IT market of the region Jagdev shares, “For last few months the market is struggling with MOP issues, slow down, financial crunch, defaulters list going up, inter city and inter partner issues. There is little sense of insecurity and desperation. PACT is doing everything to sort out such issues and help build confidence in the sector.”
