NetApp Breaks Ground on World-Class Research and Development Center in Bangalore, India

New facility will pave the way for future growth and foster greater innovation and collaboration

Today, NetApp – providing innovative storage and data management solutions, broke ground on a world-class research and development (R&D) facility at Mahadevapura, in Bangalore, India.

The nearly one million square foot facility will offer world-class working, collaboration, and recreational spaces to foster continued innovation and cross-functional collaboration. Consistent with NetApp facilities around the world, the new research and development center will exceed rigorous global environmental and safety standards. Spread over 15 acres, the new facility will include a highly efficient, 25,000 square foot data center to support global development and business operations. The facility is scheduled for completion in late 2015.

“Breaking ground on this facility is a significant milestone for NetApp R&D operations,” said Deepak Visweswaraiah, Vice President and Managing Director, NetApp India. “The availability of world-class talent, advanced infrastructure, and proximity to the booming emerging markets of the world are key reasons behind this significant investment. Perpetuating a strong culture that makes NetApp a great place to work in India is a top priority, and we are confident that the new Bangalore facility will spur collaboration and creativity and set a new foundation for growth, innovation, and success in India.”

“The new Bangalore facility will provide NetApp with a center of excellence where we can accelerate product innovation,” said George Kurian, Executive Vice President, Product Operations. “To enable increasingly multidisciplinary and collaborative work, we want to have all our teams under one roof, which will enable the free flow and cross-pollination of ideas that have been hallmarks of the NetApp culture. NetApp has long been committed to the Indian market and APAC as a whole, and today’s ground breaking signals the exciting start of our next phase of growth here.”

This development is an outcome of a commitment NetApp made to the Karnataka government by signing a memorandum of understanding (MOU) at the Global Investors Meeting in 2012.

“Innovation is at the core of our DNA. Our employees are constantly committed to harnessing product innovation to deliver exceptional experience and differentiated value to our customers and partners world over,” said Anil Valluri, President, India and SAARC Operations, NetApp Marketing and Services Pvt. Ltd. “This new world-class facility will provide the convergence of our talent under one roof and underlines our commitment to push the boundaries of technology to help our customers’ deploy our solutions that deliver better business outcomes.”

In 2013, NetApp was named #3 on the “World’s Best Multinational Workplaces” list for the third consecutive year and also received recognition within India as a great place to work. NetApp’s global culture is based on a core set of values that include trust, integrity, leadership, simplicity, adaptability, teamwork, and a go-beyond attitude. These values serve as the foundation that fuels NetApp and its employees to innovate across all areas of the business to deliver an outstanding customer experience, forge best-in-class partnerships, develop industry-leading products and technology, and build the best team in the industry.
