Su-Kam Power Systems Limited, the power back up solutions provider has set a model example by making a nursing home in Bihar run completely on solar energy! Verma Nursing home, a multi-specialty nursing home in Gaya Bihar is now completely free of electricity woes like erratic power supply or hefty electricity bills. The Nursing home derives its complete power requirements (100%) from solar energy, the solar set up of which was done by Su-Kam Power Systems recently.

Su-Kam emerged as a rescuer for Verma Nursing Home answering their problems and providing them with Solar Power, the green energy that was truly a value for money proposition. It enabled the entire hospital to run on free electricity with 100% dependency on solar. After the solar power installation, the hospital no longer has to disturb the ongoing operations, as the power supply is completely uninterrupted. The Nursing Home has also connected Meters by which each individual understands how much power they are using. Post installation by Su-Kam, Varma Nursing Home has employed their local engineer to take care of the project’s maintenance.

Su-Kam helped the Nursing Home to set up the entire infrastructure in record time, organizing help on financial assistance. Su-Kam experts also guided the project all along and made sure there were no glitches.

Ashish Sethi, Associate Vice President – Solar Projects, shares, “Su-Kam is making rapid strides in spreading awareness about the use and ease of solar installations for homes and other establishments and how the common man can benefit immensely from the same. The solar installation at Verma Nursing home is a model example of how solar technology can be used to power up residences and commercial establishments and reduce the consumer’s dependence on electricity supplied by the grid to almost zero!”

“Su-Kam is also the first company to offer a wide range of solar products to suit the needs of a small household or a large establishment. The company has already made large number of solar installations all across India; in residences, offices, hospitals, petrol pumps and a number of other applications,” he added.

Varma Nursing Home installed 5 Nos. of 4 KW solar power plants and 1 No. of 3 KW solar power plant that have resulted in the smooth functioning of the hospital without any hurdles. Apart from lighting up Varma Nursing Home, the solar power also helps run X-Ray Machines, Ultrasound, Patho Lab, Sterilization equipments, Induction Cookers, Fans, Lights and AC without any interruption.

Varma Nursing home, had to undergo a major problem- power cuts and the DG sets were neither a permanent solution nor cost-effective. In this scenario, the Nursing Home authorities showed interest in Solar Power but the high expenditure to run the entire Hospital on Solar discouraged them.

While the Nursing Home was yet to arrive on a decision, they were flooded with problems one after another.

• Non-cooperation from BSEB (Bihar State Electricity Board)

• The electricity from the grid was disconnected

• Life risk of patients due to power cuts, especially at the time of operations

• All complaints fell on deaf ear

Despite all the hurdles, Varma Nursing Home didn’t succumb to the autocracy of the conventional power providers and decided to go for its own power house, Apna Solar Power Bijli Ghar. Although the initial expenditure was a challenge but Varma Nursing Home saw the bigger picture of the investment that would last for decades resulting in lifelong free electricity. Varma Nursing Home has set an example with their decision and is the first of its kind establishment to support solar in Gaya, Bihar.
