Dubai Government embraced mobility to provide smart government while his Highness Shaikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai today (20th Oct’ 2013) innaugrated GITEX Technology Week – the Middle East, North Africa, and South Asia region’s top ICT exposition.

Dubai Government has occupied the largest exhibiting space with 70 entities at the 33rd Gitex Technology week. The event runs until October 24 at the Dubai World Trade Centre. About 31 Dubai Government Departments are taking part while the Federal eGovernment has nine entities.

Sponsored by the UAE Ministry of Finance, the event witness a 26 per cent increase in international exhibitors and a 12 per cent increase in exhibitors this year. This year event sees 25 per cent more participation of government departments including the Ministry of Finance, Ministry of Justice, Ministry of Education, Ministry of Environment and Water, General Authority of Islamic Affairs & Endowments, and the Ministry of Labour.

On the sidelines of the show, Etisalat Group celebrated an enduring partnership with MasterCard that has brought award-winning technology to the market.

“Over the last few years, Etisalat has used GITEX as a platform to launch innovative solutions that are now being used by millions of people all over the world,” said Khalifa Al Shamsi, Chief Digital Services Officer at Etisalat Group.

 

Products Galore

Samsung Gulf Electronics Co Ltd unveiled world’s largest display unit for luxury retail outlets. The 95-inch Large Format Display (LFD), which is available for the first time in the region, offers LED Backlit technology , crystal clear picture quality and superior reliability.

Panasonic also unveiled the Toughpad 4K UT-MB5, the world’s first 20 inch tablet with a 4K resolution display in the Middle East and Africa markets, at GITEX 2013.

The Toughpad 4K – UT-MB5 is the flagship product in Panasonic’s groundbreaking new Ultra-High Definition Toughpad range.

Driving digital synergies together, Gitex 2013 is set to have its more than popular Digital Strategies Forum, returning by popular demand, Digital Strategies Forum will happen on 23 October and will become a platform to discuss how the rules of business are being exploded and the complexities of coping with a new, consumer-empowered era.

Sponsored by Gemalto, the Digital Strategies Forum will examine how mobile, social networks, big data, and emerging customer touch points are changing the way enterprises and brands engage with customers, and will provide attendees with a roadmap on how best to exploit revenue opportunities opened up by the digital revolution.
